Tires Make me tired

Something needs to be done with our public transportation system. Our country’s public transportation has fallen behind other global powers. We have become a society dedicated to the individual car. There has always been an American ideology to get away from the life of cities and the work place. Starting in the beginning of suburbs people were required to use modes of transportation other than walking and biking to arrive from home to work and back. This ideology is still present if not more so, the average American is trying to have the peacefulness of country setting with the ability to reap benefits from urban settings. This can be done without the use of cars. In cities of Europe buses, trains and trams help shuttle in the suburban setting to cities. Highly developed transportation system creates jobs and lessens the crowded nine and five traffic jams. The public transportation present in Rochester is an unreliable and inefficient system, much like the rest of America. We are living in a time of technology but yet our city does not use this to better itself. Websites like twitter can be used to inform the riders of public transportation if a bus is running later than usual. With this notification a rider will not have to stand in the harsh winter weather. Through this better usage of technology the city can develop a more efficient and user-friendly transportation system that will encourage more riders.
