alleyway democracy

We have entered into a dark time of our government. The current administration is bring us down a path we that our constitutional fathers would never have imagined the land they fought was taking such a dark and so distant from the democratic government they built. If we remember our history the new found United States government was set up so it was empowered by the people, not a small majority ruling over the masses like our former mother country Great Britain. It is this key element of our country and its constitution that is being ignored. Over the summer we watched the people voice their disapproval for the health care at town hall meetings, it was a twinkle of traditional democracy. Yet these peoples voices were silenced by the quick hand of our government, they were labeled Nazi's and racists by the very officials that were suppose to be delivering their messages. This was the first time our liberties were silenced and sadly it was not the last. Again health care is the center of this controversy. The bill has been passed even though there was a public backlash against it. Now the bill is in its finalizing stages, it is here that we will find what is in it and what it will do for us. These finalizing talks are being held in secrecy, behind closed doors away from the eyes and ears of the people the bill will affect. This action goes against everything America was founded on---openness, the connection between law, politician and the common man. And this also goes against what the POTUS himself promised eight times while on the campaign trail, a transparent government. It is our duty as Americans to not allow the blatant disregard politicians have shown for the people's voice and allow this ignorance to not last. As well it is our duty to have knowledge of the laws that will govern us.
